Event Overview

Members are cordially invited to attend the forthcoming IAB MENA Annual Ordinary General Assembly meeting, an online event reserved for member companies only.

It is a unique opportunity to review the extraordinary year we had in 2022-2023. It is also a moment to participate in the future planning of our next year activities.

Please note that you must be the authorized representative for the member company to vote at the meeting, if requested. In the event the Lead | Head | CEO of the member or the authorized representative as indicated on the member application form cannot attend the General Assembly, the Lead | Head | CEO shall appoint a representative that will represent the member at the General Assembly and vote on behalf of the member by completing the online Nomination of Authorized Representative form before 12:00pm on February 27, 2023. That said, if you wish to attend as an observer, this is also possible.

The IAB MENA Chairperson will provide insights, updates, and reflections on key matters relevant to the association including changes to the Board and leadership.

Committees' & Task Forces' Updates & Past Year Review
Presentation of the existing IAB MENA Committees & Task Forces including an overview of their role and structure within the association. Attendees will also learn about how they can get involved in these committees and task forces, fostering opportunities for active participation and contribution to the association’s goals and initiatives. They will also get an overview on past and current activities for each one of them.

Executive Update
The executive update will cover several important areas. Matters requiring vote will be addressed, providing an opportunity for members to vote on key decisions and voice any objections. A membership overview will be presented, offering insights into the association's membership base, demographics, and growth trends. A financial overview will highlight the association’s financial performance and any significant developments. Lastly, the appointment of Auditors of the Association will be discussed.

Industry Hot Topics & Poll Results
Discussion with the attendees on the Industry Hot Topics will be conducted, where the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the relevant industry will be explored. In addition, the Poll Results from the audience will be shared, presenting the collective opinions and preferences of the attendees on key industry topics followed by interactive discussions with the audience, allowing for open dialogue, sharing of experiences, and the opportunity to address specific questions or concerns raised by the attendees.

Michel Malkoun is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of IAB MENA and the Chief Growth Officer at Choueiri Group. Before that he was the Chief Operating Officer at DMS – the digital media arm of the Choueiri Group. No stranger to the media scene, Michel has amassed a notable career, encompassing some of the most prominent regional media groups. Prior to this, Michel spent a decade with the region’s top broadcasters (MBC Group).

Chris Solomi is the Chair of the IAB MENA Research & Measurement Committee and Omnicom Media Group MENA’s Chief Digital Officer. He oversees OMG’s overall digital offering across it multiple divisions and practices including Digital Media, Analytics and E-Commerce. His 20 year career has included roles at media supplier, agency and client side and experience leading teams in Performance Marketing, Ad Tech, Programmatic, Analytics and E-Commerce.

Ian is currently the Acting CEO of the IAB MENA, having worked with other industry leaders to establish it in MENA. He has had the privilege of working in multiple roles across multiple markets over his 20+years. This included leading global clients for Agencies in London, as CEO for an Agency in South Africa and recently as Head of Agency Partnerships for Facebook in the MENA region.

Former Regional Head of Social Media for Mindshare MENA, Richard founded Augustus Media in 2015 has grown the business to $5m annual turnover and 50 employees with offices in Cairo, Riyadh and Dubai to become one of the leading modern media companies in the region.

While starting her career in her home country of South Africa, Victoria has spent more than half her 25 year media career in the MENA region. The majority of it within the Mindshare network at Mindshare Dubai, Cairo, & in a MENA strategy role before embracing the newly created role of Managing Partner in 2019. Victoria is responsible for overseeing strategy development and implementation + adaptation of Mindshare global thinking/tools as well as all Mindshare specializations in terms of product and team across performance, social & content, new business, data analytics and research. The portfolios in her career history range from FMCG (Unilever) to Telecom/Tech (ZAIN, Samsung) to Travel (IHG, ETA) & more have ensured she has built an in-depth understanding of cross category & market expertise.
